Heakor Supporting Ontario’s Clean Energy Transition Project

HEAKOR is excited to announce the successful completion of a landmark substation transformer project in partnership with Hydro One Power, Ontario’s leading electricity transmission and distribution utility.
This project underscores HEAKOR’s ability to design, manufacture, and deliver UL, cUL, CSA, and CE certified transformers that meet Canada’s most demanding grid standards.

Project Scope: 220 kV Substation Expansion

The project centered on the Whitby East 220 kV substation, a critical node serving more than 150,000 residential and commercial customers in the Greater Toronto Area.
HEAKOR supplied:

• Two 220 kV/110 kV/35 kV 250 MVA oil-immersed substation transformers
• Four 50 kVA pad-mounted distribution transformers for auxiliary loads
• Customized on-load tap changers for voltage regulation and energy efficiency

Each unit was fully assembled and tested at HEAKOR’s 50,000 ㎡ smart factory with SGS-approved quality labs, ensuring 100% quality control and full compliance with ANSI/IEEE and IEC standards.

Ontario is aggressively expanding renewable energy and upgrading its grid to support net-zero carbon goals.
